To kick off the year of Continuing Education courses at our office, Dr. Montano and Dr. Cardall presented some of their recent cases to local general dentists. As always, dinner was prepared and served by the doctors’ wives as the dentists ate and mingled for the first half hour. The lecture was called “The Perio-Ortho Puzzle: Working Together for Improved Periodontal Health.” They discussed cases involving abfraction, attachment loss, TMD, and other ramifications of traumatic tooth occlusion: how to address limiting mucogingival factors such as thin bioarchitexture and prominent root position; limits of dental compensation and and why orthognathic surgery is the best option for some patients; solutions to maintain mucogingival health while maximizing esthetics and function; and orthodontic tooth movement in periodontally compromised patients. The event was a success and as always, a lot of fun getting together our local dentists. Everyone received free CE’s for attending.
